      Was meint ihr dazu?

No not a good idea at all, if I find 23 words or even 20 words of a seed phrase even with just my gaming laptop I will be able to get your entire seed phrase brute forced using tools like BTCrecover and basically in a few hours, so yea it’s not a good idea. Either memorize and practice the 24 words every single day like how I do it or like others said steal is the way to go for long term

Edit – If you completely understand how passphrases work and you believe you won’t risk your assets using it ( by negligence I mean ) then you can store the 24 words on paper and use a very difficult passphrase and something you have never used anywhere else before ( example – Not your Gmail, Facebook, phone, gaming, steam, or any password ) using a new one and something strong

Writing them down on paper, or pressing them into metal is the way to go (just don’t take pictures or store them online, on your phone or laptop). Don’t try to outsmart yourself.

There are many websites that can brute force seed phrases with one or two words missing. Write it down somewhere safe, and don’t store it digitally anywhere ever

Up to 3 or 4 words ca be bruteforced. So no, not a good idea. Do not store any of the words in difital format.

u should keep ur recovery phrase on paper or metal store in safe place then use passphrase: https://www.ledger.com/academy/passphrase-an-advanced-security-feature

Do you know how long it would take me to try all the possible words for the one you left out? There are 2048 valid words. Waaaaay less than one second.

Written in metal and preferably in a way that does not make it obvious they are seed phrases. Definitely not online or in any digital form. Paper and other materials are bad in case they burn in a fire.

No. I mean you can just understand it would take a computer a fraction of a second to try every possible 24 word combinations given 23 known words so it doesn’t do anything useful.

There is an option to add a custom passphrase in addition to the 24 words. That is what you want to do. Then even having all 24 words would require someone brute forcing all possible passphrases so if the passphrase is secure it could take days or even years to complete given you time to detect the theft and move the funds.

Hey – While your idea is innovative, it’s important to note that the order of the words in your 24-word recovery phrase is crucial. If you memorize one word and write down the other 23, you would also need to remember the exact position of the memorized word in the sequence. This could potentially lead to confusion or mistakes, especially under stressful circumstances.

Moreover, relying on memory alone can be risky. Human memory can be fallible, and forgetting even a single word or its position could result in losing access to your crypto assets.

The safest way to store your recovery phrase is to write it down in its entirety and keep it in a secure, offline location. Never digitize or share your recovery phrase, and avoid entering it into any application other than your physical Ledger device during setup

Also, it’s super easy for a computer to guess the last word, just have to go through 2048 combinations which can be done in a few seconds, so removing one word doesn’t matter.

I would just make a few copies of my seed phrase and put them in a bank vault. That’s where mine are.

Naturally this provides a very safe and secure place for your close others as well. The bigger question here right now at this time is the Ledger live app. This is where it seems to be the biggest attack point. Be careful updating Ledger Live and use the banner link in LL to upload. And never put your seed phrase into any other app or device than your Nano S/X/SPlus.

I am currently asking Ledger just how secure this banner link is to use as there is no way to download and save it to check SHA512 and signature. So what to do?

This is what I do. I made a passphrase (25th word/phrase) and added all my major accounts to it. I then deleted these accounts on Ledger Live in that passphrase account. This now eliminates any hacked LL download where hacks are of the highest probability right now, as you have to use your Nano device to add back these accounts. So they are now 100% safe as far as I know at this point.

IMO the major issue now is the recovery phrase. If it is in a bank vault then I say you are as safe as you can get unless someone has a better idea and I would more than ever love to hear about it. Safe practice is why I write this. To Stop scamming accounts. This is a major crime and it should be gone after by our top law enforcement agencies committed to this act only. And people sent to jail for years. I see outright scams being posted and the site just leaves it up. Unbelievable.

I personally have a hard time trusting anything anymore. Deleting accounts eliminates some of it.
