Ich habe mich von „not your keys not your crypto“ anstecken lassen und finde es für meine Bedürfnisse völlig unbrauchbar. CDC versichern jetzt Konten, die ich erwäge, meine Kryptowährung dorthin zu verschieben.

Auch mit all den Berichten über Ledger, die bei Leuten versagen… wenn ich eine langfristige Lagerung will, sehe ich den Sinn nicht.

Ich denke, ich weiß bereits, die Antwort ist nein, aber einen Versuch wert.

Your ledger is still more secure than anything else. As long as you keep your seed phrase secured in a safe place and don’t lose it.
Ebay or a friend would be the only bet to sell it I guess

CDC (if you read carefully) are insuring the crypto that they keep in their own ledger. It’s true that they have good security standards, but if someone manages to get into your account or if your coins simply go missing or if the exchange gets shut down or investigated by the sec, don’t expect any favours from CDC. In essense, they’re covering their own butts, they are not going to help you if you get hacked.

People who know what they’re doing will be loathe to buy a Ledger that isn’t new because there is no telling in what way it is potentially manipulated.

But if you reset your device (by entering a wrong PIN three times) and find someone willing, it’s no risk for you.

You say you have been spending time on the CDC sub lately?

Well I just went there off the back of your comment and the first posts i see are:

„Cant login after update“, „Locked out of Account“, „App blocked, card frozen, no support for days“, „Trying to get the restrictions on my account lifted“.

That’s reason I store my funds on a hardware wallet and not on an exchange.
