Ich brauchte, um meine aktuelle Ledger nano s zu einem neuen Ledger nano s plus übertragen, um zusätzliche Münzen zu laden. Meine Frage ist, dass ich ETH auf KILN durch den Ledger gestapelt habe. Wird diese Übertragung oder muss ich den alten Ledger zu halten. Vielen Dank für jede Hilfe.

I would keep the old ledger as a backup. As far as your question it will work fine. The ledger holds the keys to the crypto you own that is on the blockchain, not the crypto itself. The keys will be the same if you restore the new ledger with the same original seed. You are getting a new ledger to load more apps, not more crypto.

Your cryptos are not in your ledger, they are on the blockchains.

The only thing stored in your ledger is your 24-word seed phrase, which is basically the key to access your accounts on the blockchains.

So the only thing you need to do is enter your seed phrase in your second ledger, using the „recover with existing seed phrase“ setup option.

      That’s all!!! No transfer needed.

This way your new ledger will give you instantly access to all your cryptos. Your old ledger will keep working, i e. both leggers will have the same keys and give you the same access to the same accounts.

The old Nano S has limited memory, so you need to un-install apps to install other apps, that’s annoying but it has no effect of the balance of the cryptos, even if you remove the app that manages a crypto, the crypto is still secure on the blockchain. In other words, you can secure 100 different cryptos with a nano S, if you want to. It is just not practical.

The Nano S+ has more memory so it can hold more apps at the same time.

Yea, all you would need is your seed phrase. All that a cold wallet is, is a private key and a front end to view your crypto. If you don’t feel comfortable with that, you could keep the old one established and establish a new front end on the new ledger.

Just remove an app and add the app for the other coin. You can swap apps back and forth all day.

      now you have another ledger,
      1 create new keys.
2 block the ledger entering 3 times the WRONG pin.
3 initialize again the ledger with new words
4 save those words on a paper
5 use the 25word (it’s a suuuper long secure phrase) and do the transfers from one to another.
it is not the quickest way but maybe it is time to delete all your past 😉
6 install the recovery check app on the ledger.
      7 test the keys again…

Hey, indeed as mentioned by the helpful comments, your funds are never on the Ledger, Ledger Live or any of the apps, they are on the blockchain protected by your Ledger 24 words recovery phrase. When you restore your Nano S 24 words on the Nano S Plus, both will have the access to the same set of keys!
