Ich habe eine Frage zu einem möglichen Setup-Hack, auf den man stoßen könnte.
(Ich bin ein Krypto-Neuling btw)

Ich habe also einen Ledger Nano S Plus über einen von Ledgers akkreditierten Verkäufern gekauft, weil mein Land leider keine Unterstützung für Ledger hat. Going on, ich alles einrichten, private Schlüssel, Pin, die Installation all diese Dinge, die installiert werden muss. Alles war ziemlich glatt und sauber. Also dachte ich mir: „Hey, sagen wir, die Person, von der ich das gekauft habe, ist ein Betrüger, und bevor er es mir geschickt hat, hat er bereits gesehen, welche privaten Schlüssel mein Ledger hat, indem er es zuerst eingerichtet hat und dann die Einrichtung auf halbem Weg abgebrochen hat, nachdem er die anfänglichen privaten Schlüssel gesehen hat… aber kann er das wirklich tun?“

Das ist also im Grunde meine Frage.

When you setup the ledger, it generates a new random seed phrase that has nothing to do with any other seed phrrase previously generated with the same device before. The ledger uses a hardware true tandom number generator that generatesa completely different random seed phrase each time.

So the hack you describe cannot happen , of course.

What do you mean with: your country doesn’t have support for ledger ???

I would always buy a hardware wallet directly from the vendor.

Nevertheless, once you received the ledger I would perform a factory reset (I hope the ledger was sealed) then run the genuine test through ledger live and setup everything from the scratch.
If you didn’t setup the seed by your own then do it again bevor your sign any cryptos!!!! It’s an order 😅

Hey,

Your concern is understandable but hopefully, Ledger hardware wallets aren’t that simple in terms of security. When you set up your Ledger device, device generates each time a new 24-word recovery phrase, so it is not the same, it is never the same. In fact thanks to randomness, the chance that the recovery phrase will be the same is astronomically low.

So, if you’ve got a Ledger device from not official store, you can check its genuineness as explained [here](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404389367057-Is-my-Ledger-device-genuine-) and make sure that you generate 24-word recovery phrase yourself and it is not already prefilled on the paper recovery sheet by someone.

After that, you are good to go!
