Gast::I would advise against using the Pinned Passphrase because in that use case it saves the Passphrase to the device behind the Pin and it might be able to be retrieved like the Seed Phrase. Im using the temp Passphrase option, in that use case you have to manually key it into the device every time you want to access the wallets associated with the Passphrase. Its a Huge PITA but at least you know its secure and no one can steal it.

Gast::Once your Ledger is already set up with 24 words
1 – Go to settings
2 – Set up passphrase
3 – Attach it with a new PIN
4 – Switch between your 2 ledger setups using the 2 PINsYou now have 2 set of PINs
Let’s say your original pin was 1234 and your new PIN is 9876
When you use 1234 you can use your old set of address
When you use 9876 you can use new set of addressesEdit : you can even set up more passphrases and can attach each one to a 3rd, 4th and 5th PIN and so on.
Each passphrase will give you a new set of addresses
👉🏻 👉🏻 Yes, you will have to move your coins to new addresses and that will cost you fee. Also, if you want your new addresses secret, you should not send directly to your new addresses.

Gast::Hey – The 25th word passphrase, also known as the „additional passphrase“ or „hidden wallet,“ is a security feature available on Ledger Nano devices. It allows you to add an extra layer of protection to your wallet.
When you set up your Ledger Nano, you receive a seed phrase consisting of 24 words. By enabling the 25th-word passphrase feature, you can create a hidden wallet that is accessed using a separate passphrase. This hidden wallet operates independently of your main wallet and has its own set of addresses and balances.
The purpose of the 25th-word passphrase is to provide an added level of security in case someone gains unauthorized access to your device or discovers your seed phrase. As the thief will only be able to access your seed phrase accounts. Your accounts linked to your passphrase still remain secured. More info here

Gast::Thanks you for all the insight. I figured as much in regards to gas fees and transferring from 24 seed accounts to passphrase accounts.
Whoever mentioned transferring funds indirectly through 3rd party, very smart.
Not even sure if I’m going to use passphrase since nowhere do I have all 24 words written down. Last 2 words are memorized by myself and my wife and my children.
I guess theoretically someone could guess the two words in the right order using the list of several hundred or so words used, but seems unlikely.
Any thoughts on this?

Gast::Passphrase is an essential security element.
If someone “reads” your 24 words seed, he will get access to all your coins. Though if you have a passphrase and transfer your BTC and ETH or any other coins to your new accounts created with your passphrase, you will be safe even if your seed is compromised. Leave some BTC/ETH on your 24 words accounts to check if it gets compromised.
Read carefully the Ledger.com web page and after creating a passphrase of at least 20 characters and less than 50 to be compatible with other wallets (no dictionary words) you will create your BTC/ETH accounts with your second PIN. Passphrase is a huge + in terms of security. You can create one with a PIN and as many as you want with no PIN. Be extremely diligent to test with small transfers as nothing can protect you if you lose your passphrase. -
