Warum ist der Verlust Ihrer Seed-Phrase ein Problem? Wenn ich sie verliere, kann ich dann nicht trotzdem meine Kryptowährung direkt von der Ledger-Wallet an eine andere Börse schicken. Einen neuen nano x kaufen und von vorne anfangen. Und wenn das wahr ist, wie sicher ist das überhaupt? Kann nicht jemand Ihre Ledger-Wallet-APP hacken und Ihre Kryptowährung einfach an diese Adresse senden?

      > Why is losing your seed phrase a problem?

If you lose your seed phrase, the only remaining copy of it is in your ledger.

If you ledger suddenly malfunctions, resets, or get lost, you would instantly lose access to all your cryptos forever.

Also, if your ledger firmware gets completely out of date, if may not be able to connect to current tools, making recovery complicated and risky. Updating the device firmware can cause the device to reset if anything goes wrong during the update, causing permanent loss.

Your seed phrase is your master key. It has way more value than the ledger device. The value of your seed phrase is the value of all your cryptos. The value of your ledger is $100 or so.

Yea, you defintely still can transact crypto if you have a wallet established. You best hope you don’t ever loose your cold wallet, as you won’t have a way to re-establish references to your crypto.

Seed phrase = private keys = control of the wallet.

Yes, if your ledger is functional and you do it before whoever finds your seed steals it all.

A new wallet is as secure as the seed hygiene practiced.

No, the app is irrelevant. They’d need your seed, to set up access somewhere else, or you’d have to sign the transaction with your ledger.

You need your seed phrase to be able to restore the wallet on a new device or in a last resort pinch on a hotwallet

Imagine your ledger fell into a lake and you lost the seed phrase or you enter that pin in wrong accidentally 3 times without your seedphrase you are outta luck and your money is gone.

However with ledger recover that ain’t the case any more if opt into it, obviously that is why it exist.

However it can’t recover passphrases thankfully

Hey there, as mentioned by everyone, it is essential to have a backup of your 24 words recovery phrase. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Indeed if your device is functional, you would be able to do as you mentioned, but we can’t predict the future. Anything can happen that might defect your device (from natural to unnatural causes). And with a Ledger device, you are responsible for the security of your 24 words recovery phrase, which clearly defines self custody. I hope this better clarifies and remain available if needed additional information. Here’s some tips on how to keep your recovery phrase safe: [https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005514233-How-to-keep-your-24-word-recovery-phrase-and-PIN-code-safe-?docs=true](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005514233-How-to-keep-your-24-word-recovery-phrase-and-PIN-code-safe-?docs=true)

The question has been answered, if your ledger bricks it’s all gone, but as far as hacking your ledger app? No, the crypto is not in the ledger app and you must have the ledger device to control or do anything with the crypto (that is on the blockchain) that you have the keys too (ledger device or seed phrase). You could give someone access to the app and they cannot do anything without the ledger device.
