I think the problems with Trezor T not having SE is severely overblown.

First of all, it’s not like you or me would be able to crack a Trezor T if we found one on the street SE or not. It needs expert knowledge and tools.

Second, all that is not relevant if you use passphrase (25th word) which is not not stored on Trezor so no way to “crack it”.

Or you can use SD card protection which is more secure than even SE is.

So it’s not not like Trezor T is broken is any way.

* If you worry about physical attacks that much, get TS3.
* If you don’t care about physical attacks that much, get TT. The UX is so much easier.
* Use passphrase anyway, even on TS3. Passphrase protects recovery seed, too. So you want it, if you worry about physical attacks.

A passphrase/password works as a 2FA that is needed in addition to your seed.

I mention that because that’s what makes me not worry if my Model T is stolen or lost.

If it wasn’t possible to have a password, or if the password has to be stored on the device too, then I’d probably want the secure element. But since my password doesn’t live on my Model T, I’m really not worried about it.

The way I look at it the short comings of the Model T can be mitigated. If the secure element in the Safe 3 has a flaw or is in some other way compromised (ie. government mandated backdoor) there could be no way to mitigate it.

Why are people carrying around their trezor all the time? Your hardware device should be kept safe in a secure location. If you are out in public with your hardware device you are asking for trouble. That’s advertising to everyone that you have crypto, and by having a hardware device most likely you have a significant amount.

I actually wipe my device if I travel anywhere. All I do is restore it from the seed when I need to access it again.

The trezor T can be physically attacked, but is extremely difficult to do that, Mexican cops stole some of my wallets, trezor T, trezor one, coldcard and ledger, and they could not get the Bitcoins and this was a long time ago, I had backups on another location so I was safe, always have a backup where you do not live.
