Administrator::Hallo,

Gast::There’s no problem doing this other than for niche applications that keep a context on the device. The only one that’s relevant is likely the Security Key application (formerly known as U2F), if the remote site enforces counter checks – in that case, you’d only be able to use it on one device at a time

Gast::You could, but as I said elsewhere, if you want to leverage two devices for security, the best thing to do is to setup a multisig, like Gnosis safe or Argent.
Then you have the security of having an wallet that requires two signatures (both your ledgers) to function.
Look up Gnosis Safe or Argent.

Gast::I did this yesterday with a Nano S Plus after adding a passphrase a few days ago, realizing im kind of stuck if my Ledger Nano X fails. I have a 3rd ready on stand by and a Stax on the way lmao. (I totally prefer the S Plus over the X now)
No doubt the weakest link in the crypto opsec chain is how well you have protected your seedphrase backup, and also revoke any/all contract approvals since your device is not needed to transact in case an approved contract goes rogue.

Gast::I keep four working Ledgers at all times. I rarely go through the process of setting up a wallet from the 24-word seed phrase. So, I worry about not being able to do it. Keeping four working Ledgers at all times gives me the confidence that I will be able to access my crypto even if, for some reason, I lose or break one of my Ledgers (or even three of them).

Gast::It’s totally to your benefit to have more than one. If you know anything about multisig you’ll probably need several to be honest. Got my first one in 2015. I have 3 ledgers now 2 Nano X and 1 Nano S and a CryptoSteel Capsule. If you’re using any web3 applications I believe 2 minimum is a requirement. You can use it as 2FA FIDO too.
They usually got good deals on family packs around the holidays as well.
I know the firmware update for 3rd party recovery is a questionable move and is an issue but it’s still better than nothing in terms of security. Trezor has its drawbacks too.

Gast::It’s a great idea to have a backup device in case something happens to the Ledger you currently have.
I recently had a situation where I lost my Ledger for a day or two and there was quite a bit of market volatility and – **thankfully** – I had a backup device that I was able to restore my funds into and transact from, for the time being.
Turned out the Ledger I was looking for was in a jacket pocket – but I wouldn’t have found it for a couple of days and so – backups do indeed come in handy, especially if it’s really an emergency.

Gast::It’s not necessary. What you should do instead, is try to recover your seedphrase by resetting your ledger (while it doesn’t have a lot of funds), so you know your recovery method works, and you didn’t save wrongly your seedphrase on a paper.
Then, in the eventuality your Ledger breaks, get a new one a this moment.
