Ledger Nano S ist kaputt gegangen und ich habe kein Ersatzgerät

Whatever you do don’t use atomic wallet. Their wallet recently got hacked. People who simply opened the app saw all their crypto withdraw immediately. That’s the general risk with hot wallets.

How did it break down? Did the OLED die? The screens on Ledger S just fade out and die. To be sure its dead, look at it through your phones camera. I know, I know. It works if the screen is too faded out to see. Mine is on the way out as well and I will be fixing it by replacing the screen.

You can do a very easy fix. Replace the screen. It is not hard and you can be done in 10 min. Be sure to get the same OLED display with the same number of pins. See video.

how did it break?

If it’s just the screen (i.e. your computer recognizes the device when you plug it in USB), they you can just replace the display, they cost less than $5 on aliexpress and are delivered in about 10 days. no special tools to replace the display, i did it multiple times. There are youtube tutorial videos.

If you have 50 bucks of crypto then of course i can’t advise to buy another Nano S.
Exodus seems good and correct, i’m using it to always keep like 20-50 bucks of Btc. You can add many alts too.
Blue wallet is very good for Btc only.
If your coins ever raise and gain value, then time to get a new hardware wallet.
If your coins are worth more then 300-500$ then i would recommend to get a HW.

You might use a wallet supporting 24-word recover phrase, then transfer assets to a wallet supporting 12-word phrases, as they are more common. All the abovementioned wallets, have a little number of blockchains to support, such as Myceliuem or MEW.

Whether or not you still have warranty, these devices are not meant to break so easily.

Go open a support ticket with Ledger and see what they can do for you. If it’s under warranty they may replace it for you. If it’s out of warranty they may give you a discount code or something. In any case, contact them.
