The problem can happen if somehow the local / cached data of Ledger Live becomes corrupted (or if you log into your computer using a user account different from the one you used to install Ledger Live“, in that case, log-off and log-in again with the correct account).
You can exit / quit / close the Ledger Live app on your PC, then use the file explorer to go to
C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Roaming (replace %USER% by your windows user name
Then rename the folder „Ledger Live“ into „Ledger Live.old“.
This will cause Ledger Live to restart „clean“. You will then have to add all your existing accounts using „add account“ (with your ledger device connected).
Note that setting a password for Ledger Live is completely useless unless you share your computer user account with other people.
