It’s simple enough to just not compromise your seed phrase. Write it down on paper (or use a steel plate) and never enter it anywhere electronically. Then you have nothing to worry about there.

Use multiple passphrases with your Ledger if you want to separate the risk.

You would be containing the damage in case you get compromised, which I think is a solid risk mitigation strategy – particularly if your risk model assumes that you will get compromised somewhere, sometime hence you need to plan for it.

I want to make 3 additions:
– you don’t need multiple ledgers, you can use multiple passphrases with the same effect
– make sure you can handle the extra complexity. Yep, you might become the weakest link if you lose control of this extra layer
– make sure that compromising one seed is not enough to compromise all seeds! If that happens, the added complication makes no sense at all

or dont worry so much, one seed + passphrase (that only you know of) is more than enough. Just make sure you dont lose the seed paper.

A hacker cant get hold on your account if he dont own your passphrase, even if he has the seed, or vice versa

I like the pass phrase solution. May have to implement that. I currently spread mine across multiple ledgers utilizing diff seeds.

Multiple ledgers means multiple seed phrases to remember and have stored. If you want security you need to store them in different places

Yes you’re right, if you have huge amount, it’s better to distribute them on different cold storage wallets(seeds), it’s not mandatory but just a good idea as I see, but in general if you keep your seeds in safe place nothing wrong should happen, but I still prefer to keep huge funds distributed in different seeds(places).

Currently my funds distributed 70% ledger , 15% 15% exchange.

If I have huge amount I would distribute like: 40% (ledger) 30% (trezor) 30% (decent ).

-Always conduct a small amount test while sending or receiving your funds and verify that the correct wallet address was copied/pasted into address bracket.
