Hallo Leute, brauche Hilfe. Was sind meine Optionen? Wenn ich die Firmware auf dem Gerät aktualisiere. Wird
es mich nach der Seedphrase fragen? Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, die Kryptowährung vor der Aktualisierung zu verschieben?

Generally upgrading firmware doesn’t ask for seed phrase. You’ll need to use your PIN, which you seem to have.

The problem is there is no guarantee the firmware upgrade will run flawlessly. Especially coming from such an old firmware. You run the risk the upgrade doesn’t go as planned. If this happens, you are SOL since you no longer have your seed phrase to reload access to your wallets.

You are already aware of this, but for everyone else this is one of the reasons it is important to make sure you have a secure copy of your seed phrase.

You should not attempt to update the firmware, because if the update fails, the ledger could reset and you would lose permanently access to all your cryptos. One of my ledger did reset once during an update, so I would NOT take that risk.

There are always usually simple ways to recover access to cryptos without having to update the firmware, by just using other front-ends that connect to the ledger device, instead of ledger live. E.g. Electrum for BTC, Metamask for ETH and other EVM-compatible chains, etc.

In some cases, recovery can be a bit more complicated. You can read some of our recovery reports here:

Don’t upgrade the firmware (at least initially), it’s too risky. Best bet is to install an old version of Ledger Live (like from 2017 or 2018) as a temporary measure. Then move the crypto to a temporary wallet (like Trust Wallet), then upgrade Ledger Live, Device etc. (If necessary, create a new seedphrase/wallet, and move everything back). You can get old versions on Github:

eg. Maybe version 1.1? (but try others)

that’s one reason why I dislike Ledger.. there is no lifetime support for old firmwares for cases like theses.

I would transfer everything to trust wallet.

Then I’d reset the ledger, get a new seed and write it down/set in a metal device.

Even if you are able to update, why end up in this same position later?

UPDATE 2 : so everything worked out okay. I used metamask for ethereum and Electrum wallet for bitcoin and they worked. Thank you so much everyone for your help. Now i have some crypto like ONT NEO AND TRX that is staking on their wallets and website. Do i need to move them also? Before resetting and updating the ledger for new 24 seed phrase? Or the address will stay the same? Please help thanks

Ha. You are SOL, get in touch with joe grand. He **might** be able to do something. Eat the cost and move on. If your money really was that important, you wouldn’t have lost your seed phrase. The updated application doesn’t ask for a seed phrase, if it does it’s a scam/malicious app that did not originate from ledger.

1- verify you have correct seed phrase, if you’re 100% sure go ahead and upgrade.

2-Always update your firmware, wallet, LL regularly.

      Warning:

-Don’t enter your seed into anything except the Ledger device itself.

-Download / update ledger live software from official website only.

-Never use search engine to access ledger website.

-Ignore all messages in your inbox and mark them as spam.

-Never click links or install software from an e-mail.

-Never respond to someone request to download remote applications(Team viewer, anydesk and etc.)

-Always conduct a small amount test while sending or receiving your funds and verify that the correct wallet address was copied/pasted into address bracket.

-Verify your ledger live is authentic:
